Understanding The Laws Of Initial Attraction
By Lawrence J. Reaves

The laws of initial attraction are universal. They ignore the restraints of culture, gender, and language. For most people, being attracted to another person is based upon how that other person looks. We are, by nature, drawn toward those who are physically attractive to us. When we gather the courage to act on that attraction, it can spark the beginning of a romantic relationship.

Occasionally, you may hear people claim that looks are not important to them. While that may suit their ideal about themselves, it ignores our basic human instinct. In truth, all of us are initially attracted to other people for the same reason: because they look good to us. Below, we'll explore what happens during the first glance that sparks our interest in others. We'll also take a closer look at the role that physical chemistry and sexuality play in attraction.

First Glance

Each of us has experienced the sensation that goes through our mind and body when someone catches our eye. It begins with a fleeting glance. Often, our eyes casually drift across another person while scanning a room or watching others. In that moment, attraction is instantly triggered. No matter where we look afterwards, something about that other person draws our attention. The initial attraction tantalizes our curiosity. At the same time, we become acutely aware of our own appearance to others. We struggle to keep calm even as we become increasingly self-conscious. Soon, the first glance gives way to a second and third.

Chemistry And Sexuality

Physical chemistry and our sexual urges are the foundation of initial attraction. When we see someone who is physically appealing to us, our instinctive sexuality takes a more prominent role. We may not even realize that it is happening. Without having even met the person to whom we feel attracted, our mind and body immediately begin sizing them up physically. Our brain reviews whether we would be sexually compatible with them while our body starts going through subtle (or, perhaps not so subtle) physiological changes.

Physical Attraction Reciprocated

While the attraction we feel toward another person can be powerful, it is heightened further when it is reciprocated. When our glance is returned with a friendly smile, it often signals mutual interest. When our gaze holds the other person's attention, an unspoken rapport develops, if even briefly. At this point, the two people who are attracted toward one another may begin using body language to further signal their interest. A flirtatious smile, a playful wink, or a quick glance at the other person's body is part of the silent courtship. Ultimately, it can set the stage for one person to approach the other.

Taking The Next Step

The initial attraction that we feel toward another person can be potent. When it is reciprocated, that attraction may be enough to motivate us to get up and approach the other person. Social scientists have long known that people who are unacquainted with each other go through a series of steps in resolving their attraction to one another. Once our attention is drawn, we seek reciprocation. Then, we approach the other person to interact with them. Eventually, the physical chemistry and sexual arousal that prompted the interaction either goes away or grows.

It all begins with one fleeting glance. While tradition, heritage, ethnicity, and a host of other influences may suppress our instinctive urges, the manner in which we are attracted to others never changes.

Selecting Diamonds

By candyw

Diamonds are graded for certification by laboratories using grading criteria. Four of these criteria are critical to understand when

making a diamond purchase or investment. Known as the Four Cs these criteria are: color, cut, clarity and carat.

Color is the result of the composition of a diamond and it does not change. When a jeweler is describing the color of a diamond they are referring to the presence or absence of color in white diamonds. Because a diamond with no color allows maximum light to pass through, colorless diamonds are preferred for their sparkle.

Cut refers to a diamonds reflective quality. Most diamonds are cut with 58 facets. The brilliance of diamonds is heavily dependent on the cut. The different angles and the finish of a diamond determine its ability to reflect light and cause its brilliance and fire. Remember that the cut of a diamond can have an impact on its durability as well as its beauty. Some cutting faults can make a diamond prone to breakage. A diamond that is cut too thin can also cause light to leak out of the back and the diamond will lose some of the sparkle and appear not to shine. So, as you can see the Cut is probably the most important of the Four Cs.

During the formation process, inner flaws, or inclusions occur in most diamonds. The number and size of these inclusions determine what is referred to as the clarity of a diamond. Diamonds that are clear create more brilliance and therefore are rarer and highly priced. To be considered flawless, a diamond must have no surface or internal imperfections visible upon being viewed by a skilled diamond grader using 10 power magnifications.

Carat is the unit of weight by which diamonds are measured. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams. A carat is divided into 100 segments called points. 150 points would equal one and a half carats.

When you go to the store to make that all important diamond purchase, do not be shy! Ask questions, get the answers needed to make an informed purchase. Shopping for certified diamonds enables you to make an informed selection. Knowing the four Cs allows you to comparison shop and purchase the best diamond at a fair price. But, before making a purchase, shop around and decide what shapes and styles really appeal to you. Enjoy your diamond for years to come!

Tungsten Rings and Tungsten Carbide Rings; The New Kid on the Block!

By Allen Walters

Rings are the symbol of many things and many ideas and feelings; love, friendship, commitment, engagement, marriage, anniversary and on and on. They are an institution and our society and in many other cultures of the world. And even though the basic ring has not changed, the styles and metals used to form them has gotten very diverse. And tungsten and tungsten carbide rings are on the top of the list for a new and exciting metal.

For decades the metal of choice for rings was platinum, yellow gold, white gold and sometimes silver. But times have changed! Tungsten made into rings has become the chic metal of choice over the past couple of years. Of course, the other metals are still being used, but this unique metal is in a class all by themselves.

This very strong metal, although becoming very popular, has not been discovered by everyone as of yet. But once people stumble upon this strong, unique and beautiful metal, they are hooked and usually don't buy any other metal after that.

The process to make tungsten and tungsten carbide rings is very unique. The process combines tungsten and carbide powders. Then at 2400 degrees Fahrenheit, the two are mixed and molded together. Next is the polishing process where a diamond substance is used to create a luster and polish that will never dull or scratch and last like that for over 50 years! These rings are an amazing creation of beauty and durability.

More incredible are the facts about these remarkable rings. They are literally 10 times harder than 18K gold and next to diamonds, they are the hardest substance. Also, it is totally impossible to bend tungsten and it nearly indestructible as well.

What is awesome about these rings is that you can inlay them with platinum, gold or silver. So if you are a person that has to have something very different and you still want to have the tradition of the normal metals, then this is for you also. The designs that have been created with gold and silver are absolutely breathtaking and cannot be made with any other metal.

When purchasing rings made out of these metals, you have to be careful because some manufacturers want to save money and will put cobalt in them. These are very often sold as authentic tungsten rings but you will soon realize if you were fooled. Very quickly, your ring will oxidize and will also develop small spots on the finish of the ring because of the natural chemical reaction of your skin and the cobalt together. So be very careful when purchasing these rings and ask the jeweler if the metal contains any cobalt.

These rings are such an investment because they will literally last a lifetime and always keep their beautiful shine and polish. They are a real investment that will be handed down for generations.

Allen Walter's store has always been one step ahead of the trend when it comes to jewelry. His tungsten carbide rings are uniquely created for their discriminating customers. Visit their store and discover a whole new perspective tungsten rings. Don't waste another moment; find out why this beautiful metal is quickly becoming the ring of choice.
